Who Should Play
Your mission is to win every rap battle by hitting the notes in perfect sync with the music. Maintain your combo to push the progress bar toward your side and overwhelm your opponent. Conquer all 8 Story Mode chapters and beat legendary characters to earn the ultimate reward: a Friday night date with Girlfriend!
How to Play
Friday Night Funkin is a fast-paced arrow-tapping challenge that rewards precision and punishes a lack of rhythm.
Core Gameplay
- Hit the Beats: Arrows will float up the screen. When they align with the fixed outlines at the top, press the corresponding key to strike a note.
- The Tug-of-War: Look at the bar at the bottom. Accuracy pushes your icon to the right (winning), while misses allow your opponent to push you to the left (losing). If the bar turns completely red, it's Game Over!
- Combos: Consecutive hits increase your score and keep your momentum high.
Game Modes
- Story Mode: The ultimate campaign. Play through the Tutorial, Weeks 1-7, Weekend 1, and the sp.Collab1 crossover. Rise from a rookie to a legend as you face off against Daddy Dearest, Skid & Pump, Pico, Mommy Mearest, and more!
- Free Play: No pressure, just music. Pick any track from the library to practice your skills or enjoy the bops without the story progression.
Difficulty Levels
- Easy: Perfect for beginners. Timing windows are wide, and you only lose minimal progress for misses.
- Normal: The standard experience. Timing becomes more critical—hitting notes too early or late will lower your score.
- Hard: For rhythm veterans only! Requires absolute precision and high-speed reflexes.
Game Controls
- Arrows: W/A/S/D or ↑/←/↓/→.
- Menu: Enter to confirm, ESC to go back/pause.

These tracks are notorious for their high speed. Here are two pro-tips:
- Free Play Grind: Repetition is key. Practice the specific songs in Free Play to memorize the patterns.
- Practice Mode: Pause the game with ESC and enable Practice Mode. This allows you to play through the entire song without failing, no matter how many notes you miss. It's the best way to learn the hard parts!
Yes! If WASD or Arrows don't feel right, head to the Options menu from the main screen. You can fully customize your key layout (like DFJK or AskL) to find the most comfortable setup for your hands.
