Who Should Play
In Minesweeper, your core objective is to use the clues provided by the numbered tiles to deduce the exact locations of all hidden mines. Flag the bombs and safely open every single non-mine square to clear the field! Play efficiently and use flawless logic to complete the board in record time, unlocking harder difficulties and ultimate glory!
How to Play
🏆 Core Gameplay
You are presented with a rectangular grid randomly seeded with hidden mines (Standard Difficulties: Beginner 9x9 w/ 10 mines; Intermediate 16x16 w/ 40 mines; Expert 16x30 w/ 99 mines).
-
Reveal Mechanic: Left-click any covered square to reveal it. If it's safe, a number (or blank) appears. If it's a mine, it explodes and the game ends immediately.
-
Number Meanings: The number (1-8) shown on a revealed tile tells you exactly how many mines are hidden in the 8 tiles immediately surrounding it (including diagonals).
-
Flagging Mechanic: Right-click a suspected tile to plant a 'Flag', marking it as a mine. Right-click again to change it to a 'Question Mark' (if you're unsure), or right-click a third time to unmark it.
-
Victory Condition: You win the game the exact moment ALL non-mine squares are safely revealed. (Any unflagged mines are usually flagged automatically by the system upon victory).
⏱️ Additional Mechanics
-
Timer System: The clock starts ticking on your first click and stops the moment you win or lose.
-
Quick Reset: Click the 'Face' emoji button at the top to instantly restart a new game on the same difficulty with a freshly randomized minefield.
-
First-Click Protection: Your very first click of the game is guaranteed to be safe. It will never be a mine.
⌨️ Game Controls
Reveal Square: Left Mouse Button. Flag Mine: Right Mouse Button. Quick Chording (Clear surrounding): Click both Left and Right buttons simultaneously on a satisfied number.
Frequently Asked Questions
You must rely on the numbered squares to deduce mine locations. A number indicates the total amount of mines in its 8 surrounding tiles. For example, a '1' sticking out in a corner means the only covered tile next to it MUST be a mine. If a number's value equals the number of covered tiles touching it, all of those covered tiles are guaranteed mines.
You can click the Lightbulb icon to watch a short ad; it will automatically flag one hidden mine for you! If you do happen to guess wrong and explode, you can also watch an ad to revive and undo that fatal mistake!
What are the tricks?
Aside from very rare 50/50 situations, the game requires absolutely no luck—it is 100% logic-based!
-
Basic Rule: If the number of covered squares touching a number equals the number itself, flag all of them!
-
Safe Clearance: If a number is 'touching' the exact correct amount of flags, every other covered tile touching that number is 100% safe to open.
-
Advanced Patterns: Learn classic number patterns! For example, a straight wall of '1-2-1' means the mines are on the 1s. '1-2-2-1' means the mines are on the 2s. Recognizing these instantly cracks the board open.
